Curriculum

A temple with students

The Altman Program in International Studies & Business combines the curricula of two undergraduate degree programs: the School of Liberal Arts and the A. B. Freeman School of Business. Students may major in Finance, Legal Studies in Business, Management or Marketing at the Freeman School of Business and may select from over a dozen approved social science, area studies, or language majors within the School of Liberal Arts. The link between the two majors in the schools is the interdisciplinary “Altman Core,” the curricular focus of the Altman Program, which includes cohort courses, a summer group immersive experience abroad, a junior year abroad experience, and integrative seminars in the senior year.

In addition to meeting the curricular requirements for two degrees, Altman Scholars are expected to devote time to honing their skills in the non-English language of their choosing. Once our students have completed two years of language classes at the university level, they will spend the entirety of their junior year studying abroad and taking coursework in their chosen target language. Approved languages for the Altman Program are listed below:

o    Arabic*
o    Chinese/Mandarin
o    French
o    German
o    Italian
o    Japanese
o    Portuguese
o    Spanish
o    Spanish & Portuguese

*Strong proficiency in Spanish or French is required for Arabic learners. Program Director approval is required.
