It is with great humility and pride that the Altman Program recently accepted an award for its efforts related to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). Named for Tulane alum, Mr. Albert Lepage, the award recognizes faculty within the business school who incorporate EDI-related initiatives within teaching endeavors or their research. The curriculum of the Altman Program as a whole was put forward for its body of work within EDI. Within sequential courses and experiences that are woven through fours years of study, students develop skills associated with intercultural competency and engage in the study of the history of racism, anti-racism initiatives, and issues of equity, both domestic and abroad.

While award nominations were limited to faculty within the A.B. Freeman School of Business, this recognition is shared equally with co-directors Casey Love and Myke Yest, Program Manager Natalia Daar and Administrative Program Coordinator Jamie Montelepre, who jointly created the EDI initiatives within Altman.

Recognition for the Altman EDI work is also shared with our ten cohorts of Altman Scholars who are on campus, studying abroad or previously graduated. Each cohort of students has contributed ideas to make the program more equitable and allow students to share their diverse backgrounds within and across cohorts. They are an inspiration. At the end of the day, it is our Scholars that make the Altman Program a success and push us to constantly evolve. We expect each future cohort to continue this legacy of learning and evolution within the Altman Program!

We look forward to continuing to confront inequities and structural discrimination in all of its forms with our amazing students who apply a lens of social justice to their academic and career pursuits. For the moment, we celebrate this recognition! Tomorrow, we continue the fight for a more equitable society.
