Keeping up with Altmans: Lily Tendler Travels to NYC for T.R.I.P. and Tulane Takeover

Lily in NYC

Sophomore Lily Tendler traveled to the New York City in mid-October to learn more about her internship placement through Tulane Remote Internship Program (T.R.I.P.). While she was there, she also had the opportunity to attend Tulane Takeover and expand her professional network in NYC. She says:

"It was a wonderful opportunity to go visit New York City with the Tulane Remote Internship Program. The Tulane Remote Internship Program rewards students the opportunity to intern with national companies from the comforts of Tulane's campus! I was lucky enough to be placed with Kucerak + Company, a full-service marketing and advertising agency for businesses in the fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle industries. Once placed with a company, the program then flies all of the interns out to their respective cities for a site visit and to attend Tulane Takeover.

On Thursday, I got the chance to visit the K+Co office, learn more about the format of the internship, what my responsibilities will be, and meet the whole K+Co team. As my ultimate goal is to enter the high fashion marketing field, I was incredibly excited to learn that I will be responsible for writing pitches, doing influencer research, and designing line sheets for new product lines for many of the company's fashion clientele, including KBH, Roselyn, and Kylie + Kendall Eyewear. While an incredible opportunity in of itself, the internship will also allow me to confirm my career aspirations as I get an idea of what working in fashion PR and marketing would really be like.

On Friday, I went to Tulane Takeover to network with different businesses in NYC and attend a few panels. As so much of business is related to networking and making connections, I felt so lucky to have been able to attend the event and also meet other like-minded students. One event that particularly stuck with me was the Women in Business panel, whereupon women in executive positions from different international companies came to talk to us about their experiences in their respective industries and answer our questions. It was incredibly empowering to see women in different leadership positions, encouraging us that no matter the job and no matter the industry, there's a community of women in every field who are ready and excited to support the next generation of empowered women.

I would recommend that any student look into T.R.I.P. Through the program, Tulane offers us a unique opportunity to get work experience and make connections in our desired fields, but also to learn and take in the advice of individuals who can act as role models later on once we begin to build our careers. I couldn't speak more fondly of the experience."
